A new dawn in ICUrology

Happy New Year! The year 2017 is the year of the red rooster in the Chinese horoscope. Like a rooster greeting a new day, Investigative and Clinical Urology (ICUrology) will con tinue to take innovative steps towards becoming a top international journal after its successful launch in January 2016 in succession from the Korean Journal of Urology [1]. ICUrology aims to cover stateoftheart research, both basic and clinical, that will have an impact on our understanding of various urological diseases and improve health care worldwide. ICUrology is currently indexed in MEDLINE/ PubMed, PubMed Central (PMC), Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Scopus, Embase, and EBSCO. In 2016, ICUrology published 6 regular issues bimonthly and 2 supplementary issues. Many outstanding papers were published in both investigative and clinical urology. Manuscripts were submitted from 33 countries, including Afghanistan, Albania, Austria, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Israel, Jordan, Malaysia, Russian Federation, Spain, Pakistan, Thailand, and Tunisia. Accepted manuscripts came from Korea (39.5%), USA (23.7%), Australia (7.9%), Japan (7.9%), Turkey (5.3%), Canada (3.9%), Iran (2.6%), and Germany, India, Nepal, Hong Kong, Switzerland, China, and Singapore (1.3%), respectively. The acceptance rate of an original article and innovative surgical technique was 32.8% and 31.8%, respectively. The mean time from submission to the final decision in 2016 was 39 days, and the mean time from acceptance to online publication was 32 days. Thus, it is clear that ICUrology delivers timely knowledge to the international readers. In 2016, we published 2 supplementary issues. The first special issue published in June focused on urothelial bladder cancer, which is a leading cause of cancerrelated death in the field of urology [2].
